Usually when we hear the name triumph we only remember premium bikes like the bonneville series. But after their partnership with bajaj they entered the 400 cc budget segment and we all know how successful the speed 400 is in india. Now they have launched another brand new bike in this segment and it is the new triumph tracker 400.
In this article I will use my mechanical engineering experience to give you the full details about the triumph tracker 400 price in india specs mileage and my personal ride review. So let us get started.

Design and Looks of triumph tracker 400
When you look at this bike for the first time it feels totally different and fresh. This is because it is a flat track racing inspired motorcycle. In fact this is the first flat track bike from triumph. At the front you will see a nice fly screen with 400 badging on it. It comes with round shape LED headlights and full LED indicators.
The tank design is very good with triumph logo and tracker badging at the bottom. As an engineer I really loved the double barrel exhaust which looks similar to scrambler bikes. The fit and finish is very premium just like we expect from a brand like triumph.

Engine Specifications and Top Speed
Here is a very interesting thing about the engine mechanics. Even though the name says 400 this is actually a 350 cc bike now. Because of our GST norms they downgraded the engine to 349 cc. It is a single cylinder four valve liquid cooled engine. But do not worry about the power because it still produces a massive 40 PS power and 32 NM of torque.
The bike comes with a 6 speed gear box and a slip and assist clutch which makes the clutch very light. I drove this bike in 5th gear and there is no power drop at all. The triumph tracker 400 top speed is amazing and you can easily reach 135 kmph without feeling any heavy vibrations. The pickup is just next level.
Suspension Tyres and Brakes
Because this is a flat track inspired bike the suspension geometry is a bit different. In the front it gets 43 mm up and down USD forks. At the back it gets a gas preloaded monoshock which is adjustable. I tested the bike on rough roads and the suspension is very stiff and hard so you will feel the bumps.
For tyres it has 110 section 17 inch tyre at the front and a wide 150 section 17 inch tyre at the back. Braking is handled by a 230 mm rear disc brake with ByBre calipers. It also features dual channel ABS and a traction control system for extra safety.
Seat Height Weight and Dimensions
Many short riders always ask me about the seat height before buying. The triumph tracker 400 seat height is 805 mm so it is very comfortable for medium height riders to put their feet down. The triumph tracker 400 ground clearance is 162 mm. This is slightly lower than the speed 400 which has 164 mm so you need to be a little careful on big speed breakers.
The kerb weight of the bike is 181 kgs but the weight distribution is so good that you will not feel heavy when riding. It has a 13 liter fuel tank and yes it is E20 fuel compatible. It also gets a flat handlebar which gives you an upright and aggressive riding posture to easily overtake in city traffic.

The instrument cluster is the traditional triumph display. It has an analog speedometer but other things like RPM meter gear position indicator and fuel gauge are digital. You can control the screen using the i button on the left handle. From there you can also turn the traction control on or off. One bad thing is that they did not provide an immobilizer feature which was expected.

Is triumph tracker 400 good for long rides? Well the seat is a little hard with less cushioning and the suspension is stiff. It does not have cruise control or cornering ABS. So I will not recommend it for very long touring. If you want a bike for long rides go for the scrambler 400x instead.
But if you want a powerful stylish and unique flat track bike for city driving and short weekend rides of 100 to 150 kms this is an amazing choice. The flat handlebar makes it super fun to ride in traffic.
